Child Care First Aid Certification

Managing a Nose Bleed
Learn to provide care for individuals of all ages including for victims of nose bleeds by enrolling in childcare first aid certification courses in Canada.

Child care first aid courses are classes designed specifically for people that want to or work in the child care or daycare industry. This course is offered exclusively through the St Mark James and St Mark James training providers. Candidates have the option of selecting either standard or emergency child care first aid courses. The course curriculum is almost identical between the two, however, candidates enrolled in the standard child care first aid course will have more time to complete the program. Emergency child care first aid is one of the most intensive first aid courses available. Visit our location page at (http://certificationfirstaid.ca/locations/) for child care first aid certification training centre locations or for more information about a provider near you.

Two types of St Mark James Child Care First Aid Certification Programs:

Emergency Child Care First Aid

This course includes training in CPR level “B” and in the use of automated external defibrillators (AED). It is a 8 to 10 course that includes a significant amount of first aid material and topics. The content of the course is almost identical to that of a standard first aid or standard child care first aid which are taught within 18 hours. Candidates will have to complete a multiple choice test with a minimum grade of 75% to pass the course. Certification is nationally accredited and meets federal government and legislative standards for most provinces. Certification is valid for 3 years. No re-certification courses are available for emergency childcare first aid and candidates must re-take the course to renew certification.

Standard Child Care First Aid

This course also includes training in CPR level “B” and in the use of AED’s. It is a 16 hour course that is almost identical in content to a standard first aid course. Candidates must take a multiple choice test and receive a minimum grade of 70% to pass the course. Certification meets government standards and is valid for 3 years. Re-certification courses are not available for standard child care first aid for some provinces.
